Churches are facing discontinuous change at a faster rate. And pastors are feeling the strain of leading alone. They need the helpful support of lay leadership teams within their church. And lay leaders need equipping to learn the way forward with their pastors.
Led by David Chong, the church planting pastor of Elm Church, this 10-week workshop is a distillation of what he teaches his leadership team. It is designed for groups of lay leaders to work with their pastor to:
- Name the pain points in their "neighborhood"
- Clarify their church's vision, mission, and values.
- Develop awareness of ministry systems and personal systems, and the connection between the two
- Learn to stay calm, stay connected, and stay the course
- Learn to make observations, evaluate interpretations, and frame interventions
- Reflect deeply on what formation looks like for people in Queens' churches
The goal is to equip people to learn, grow, and work alongside pastors, and to face times of uncertainty together.
Lay leaders will be in discussion groups with others from their church. So each church must send a group of three or more. Pastors are strongly encouraged to attend with their leaders.
We meet weekly on Tuesday nights, in person. Free parking is available.
